Jen drew inspiration from media that she had seen online that focuses around the idea of empowering women to wear clothing that is usually identified or stereotyped as masculine. From that point she reached out to Taine and they both expanded the idea of creating for the sake of creating. Bringing together a group of young talents that are all unique in their own way, exploring different styles and different ideas. We loved how the idea came to fruition and we want to continue to push our artistic identities.
We wanted the hair for the shoot to look quite androgynous. We went for quite a sleek pushed back, using a paste and blow-drying it back, then played around with adding texture throughout the shoot. We wanted the hair to compliment the clothing and theme of the shoot and contribute to the impact of questioning stereotypical masculine images.
For the makeup we wanted to compliment Jennar’s features without compromising the overall androgyny of the shoot, we went for a soft but strong and powerful look. We decided to go for a natural smokey eye and a sharp brow topped off with a subtle gloss lip.
Thank you to Jenna and Taine for letting us be a part of your creative process and allowing us to explore our editorial styles!
